You're 8 weeks old, Rosie Bea! You still fit in newborn clothes and diapers, but you're getting close to not swimming in your 0-3 month wardrobe. You still like snuggles, milk, and not having pee in your pants. You grunt a lot and fart like an old man - neither of those are new developments in the last two weeks, but I don't think I had mentioned them yet, and they definitely need to be documented for posterity.

In these past two weeks, it feels like you've really shown up, and you're starting to really like looking at people and your surroundings. You have periods of calm wakefulness now when you'll lay there, punching and kicking and cooing. You're also moving toward sleeping more at night, which I really appreciate.

I start back to work tomorrow, and I'm feeling a little gutted at the idea that I'm going to miss a lot of your milestones over the next months, but I'm confident that we made the most of our first 8 weeks together. I can't wait to watch you and your personality grow as I keep learning how to be your mama.

Six Weeks

Roz, you're 6 weeks old! At your one month appointment, you weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and measured 19.5 inches. You're finally solidly in newborn size diapers, and you do a pretty good job of filling them up on the regular. You've started to smile, like a real social smile - not often, but we've seen it a few times, although you tend to be either angry or indifferent. Your interests right now include milk, snuggles, not having pee in your pants, daytime naps, and midnight chats. You took your first bottle today, because I head back to work in a couple of weeks. I'm going to really miss our days together, but we'll make the most of what we've got left, Rosie Bea. 💜
